Part A: Disclaimer / Terms of Use
1. Scope
These legal notices apply to the website io-inspector.com (including all subpages) and to the app “IO-Inspector,” including related content, functions, and export files.
If mandatory laws at your place of use provide different rules (for example consumer protection law), those rules take precedence.
2. Content
We create content with the greatest possible care. However, to the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or continuous availability.
Liability for our own content is possible only once we become aware of a specific legal violation. If we become aware of legal violations, we will remove the affected content immediately.
3. External Links
Our offering may contain links to external third-party websites. We have no influence over their content and therefore cannot assume any warranty for third-party content. The respective provider or operator is always responsible for linked pages.
Permanent content monitoring of linked pages is not reasonable without concrete indications of a legal violation. If we become aware of legal violations, we will remove such links immediately.
4. Software Use, Project Data, Export/Import
4.1 Provided “as is”
To the extent permitted by law, the app is provided “as is.” Unless explicitly agreed otherwise, we do not owe uninterrupted operation or operation that is always error-free.
4.2 Offline-first, backups, and data loss
The app follows an offline-first principle: project data (for example IO lists, documentation, and photos) is generally stored locally on your device. You are responsible for creating suitable backups, especially before updates, device changes, or import/export operations.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damage or data loss caused by software errors, crashes, incompatibilities, operating errors, or insufficient backups.
4.3 Third-party import/export (for example Siemens TIA Portal)
If the app generates export files (for example .xlsx/.csv) that are imported into third-party software, use of such files is entirely at your own risk. Before importing into production systems, you must verify files and validate them in a test environment. It is recommended to create backups of target projects before every import.
- No liability for damage, malfunctions, project corruption, or crashes in target software resulting from import/use of export files (to the extent permitted by law).
- No liability for production outages, downtime, or lost profits, to the extent permitted by law.
4.4 Exceptions: mandatory liability
The above liability limitations do not apply in cases of intent or gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, mandatory statutory liability (for example product liability), or breach of essential contractual obligations. In the latter case, liability is limited, to the extent permitted, to typically foreseeable damage.
5. Copyright
Content and works on this website and in the app are protected by copyright. Reproduction, editing, distribution, or exploitation outside copyright limits requires prior written consent from the respective rights holder.
6. Multiple Languages
This page may be available in multiple languages. Translations are provided for readability. In case of deviations, the version applicable under mandatory law at your place of use prevails; where no mandatory law requires otherwise, the German version prevails.
7. Applicable Law
To the extent permitted by law, the law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies. Mandatory consumer protection and data protection provisions of your country of habitual residence remain unaffected.
Part B: Privacy Policy
1. Privacy at a glance
We process personal data only where required for website operation, request handling (support), or legal obligations. Based on the current implementation, the app is offline-first; project data generally remains on your device unless you actively send it to us.

3. Website: data processing
3.1 Hosting and server log files
When the website is accessed, the hosting provider automatically processes data in server log files (for example IP address, timestamp, requested resource, status code, browser/OS, referrer).
Purposes: provision of the website, security (for example abuse/attack detection), error analysis, and optimization.
Legal basis (EU/EEA/UK/CH, where applicable): legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR or corresponding law).
Retention period: server logs are stored for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized unless security-relevant events require longer retention. Guideline: [7-30 days - please configure/add].
3.2 LocalStorage (language preference)
We store your language preference locally in the browser (LocalStorage) to display the website in your preferred language. Only a language code is stored (for example “de”, “en”).
Legal basis (EU/EEA/UK/CH, where applicable): legitimate interest in user-friendly presentation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or necessity for the requested provision.
You can delete LocalStorage at any time via your browser settings.
3.3 Contact form / support
If you send inquiries through the contact form, we process the data you provide (for example name, email, message) to handle your request and follow-up questions.
Legal basis (EU/EEA/UK/CH, where applicable): Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contractual/pre-contractual) and/or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in support). If you explicitly consent: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Retention period: we store support requests only as long as required for handling, evidence, or legal obligations.
3.4 File uploads in the contact form
If you upload files (up to 10 MB), we process them exclusively for handling your request. Please upload only content required for support and avoid unnecessary sensitive personal data.
After completion of processing, uploads are generally deleted unless legal retention obligations or legitimate reasons (for example evidence in support cases) require otherwise.
4. App “IO-Inspector”: data processing
4.1 Offline-first / local processing
Based on the current implementation, the app processes and stores project data and photos locally on your device. There is no automatic transfer of your project data to us or third parties.
Note: if you actively send content to us (for example via contact form or email), we process it to handle your request.
4.2 App permissions
Depending on use, the app may request the following permissions:
- Camera: to capture photos for documentation. Storage is local in the app.
- Photo library/gallery: to import existing photos for documentation.
You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings.
4.3 No analytics / no tracking (current status)
Based on the current implementation, we do not use tracking or advertising SDKs in the app and do not perform user-based profiling. The app does not require an internet connection for core functionality.
Platform operators (for example Apple) may process data under their own responsibility (for example downloads/updates, billing). Their own privacy information applies.
4.4 Export/share of files
If you export data or share files (for example PDF/Excel/CSV), you decide the transfer channel (for example email, AirDrop, cloud storage). Further processing depends on the service you choose.
5. Recipients, processors, and disclosures
We generally disclose personal data only where required to handle your request, where you have consented, where a legal obligation exists, or where we have a legitimate interest and no overriding interests oppose it.
Typical recipient categories may include: hosting/IT service providers, email providers, and potentially services for spam/abuse protection (if used).
6. International data transfers
If service providers outside your country or outside the EU/EEA are used, transfers to third countries may occur. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards (for example contractual guarantees).
7. Retention periods
- Website server logs: limited period, see above (please configure).
- Support requests (contact form/email): until completion plus as required for evidence/legal obligations.
- App data: local on your device; deletion controlled by you (for example delete in app/uninstall/device settings).
8. Your rights
Depending on applicable law (especially EU/EEA/UK/CH), you may have rights to access, rectification, deletion, restriction, data portability, objection, and withdrawal of consent with future effect.
To exercise your rights, contact us at Support@io-inspector.com.
Right to lodge a complaint: you may file a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, especially at your place of habitual residence, workplace, or the place of the alleged infringement.
9. Regional additional notices
9.1 California (CCPA/CPRA) - where applicable
Where applicable: we do not sell or “share” personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may exercise rights such as access, deletion, and correction by contacting us.
9.2 Canada (PIPEDA) - where applicable
Where applicable: you may request access to your personal data and request corrections. Please contact us at Support@io-inspector.com.
9.3 Brazil (LGPD) - where applicable

10. Data security
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect data (for example transport encryption/TLS, access restrictions, data minimization).
11. App Store - Privacy “Nutrition Label”
For additional transparency, we provide a short mapping of how app data usage can typically be described in the App Store (App Privacy / “Privacy Details”). See: “App Store Privacy Details”.
12. Changes to this privacy policy
We update this privacy policy when legal requirements, features, or processing activities change. The current version on this page applies.
